 Santa Claus SuperCPU Demo 00:41
If you have a SuperCPU and a NTSC machine, download the Santa Claus SuperCPU demo. It will display a *full-screen* FLI picture, including the first three columns, of the Jolly Santa with a merry greeting. Go to this website at:

Eyeth's Videocam Commodore Site

If you have a PAL SuperCPU setup, the demo might not run 100% okay on your machine. Give it a try, anyway.

Enjoy.

 The Party 2001 - Digitally Remastered! 01:23
The Party is taking place in Aars Messecenter/Denmark from the 27th of December 08:00 CET, to the 29th of December 15:00 CET. It's the 11th party in a row and organisers claim that: "The Party 2001 is going to be a celebration of the culture that is computer parties. A massive 55 hour event with the best from the world of gaming and the demo scene, and of course lots of good, old-fashioned, analog fun." I seriously doubt the last promise, therefore I ask every C64-er who is still hesitatating whether to take part or not to send their stuff, or go there and show'em what is analog ;-). I have heard that musics will compete in the same cathegory together with PC tracks (which means quite interesting challenge), but Graphics and Demos for C64 have separate cathegory. SounDemoN/Dekadence is going there and he was so kind that he agreed to deliver your compo productions. So if you have Graphic, Demo, or Msx don't hesitate and send it to: ottoj@sci.fi not later than 25.12.2001, 10:00PM.Keep in mind that according to general rules competitors should be present at final ceremony, but let's hope organisers will not be so strict.

Cotton retires from Creative Micro Designs 06:30
Doug Cotton retires from Creative Micro Designs CMD was one of the largest companies ever producing hardware for the C64. They were forced to leave some time ago to secure the future of the company. But what about the people behind this name? For them, the dream of the C64 being your main, real life job was a reality. This is over now and one of them, Doug Cotton, therefore has decided to leave the company, which now only offers PC and Macintosh related services.

 GeoZIP v0.7 03:53
Todd Elliott reports that geoZIP v0.7 is now complete. There are not a lot of changes, mostly cosmetic and usability changes regarding its SuperDB file requestor. For those who don't know what geoZIP is, it is an utility for Wheels or MP3 GEOS platform which can extract or create ZIP/GZ archives. It does require a SuperCPU with at least 128Kb of free SuperRAM. geoZIP v0.7 can be downloaded from: http://www.cs.tut.fi/~albert/Dev/gunzip-geos/ Here's a list of the updates: The close icon has been made a tad larger. Should make most myopic users happy. :) The Select Source Directory menu selection has been removed. The Select Destination Directory now calls the SuperDB. The SuperDB now has the disk name, drive icons (A..D) and DISK icon all displayed at once. The SuperDB will only display ZIP or GZIP files under the unzip files menu selection, but will display all files under the zip files menu selection.

 PBC#45 released bi-lingually 00:31
Now we've finally managed to release another issue of that German fanzine PUBLICATION. But hey: It's not German any longer. It's both: English AND German in just the same issue using a brand new magsys with elements of hypertext-languages. Should be up at our homepage by now. If not, you can download it here. This issue was supposed to be released at X2001, but I've emailed it just a couple of hours to late, so it wasn't. Therefore I hope nobody feels bothered by the occurence of "released at X2001" here and there. Have fun!

CLiPS and JOS join forces - WiNGS is born! 21:12
Officially announced on the recently held VISION party: In an effort to develop an efficient and feature-rich operating system for the Commodore 64 with SuperCPU, Protovision strikes back with another major breakthrough: The two formerly competing products, CLiPS and JOS, now join forces! PROTOVISION brought together the main coders of both systems, Jolse Maginnis (JOS) and Chester Kollschen (CLiPS), who virtually shook hands on committing their power to one common project! This means more efficient development, a bigger platform for applications to base on and finally a much better final product for the C64 community.

JOS already features:

Unix/QNX like architecture, Microkernal, Message Passing, Multitasking, mountable devices, IDE64 support, digidriver and MOD player, modem driver, working TCP/IP stack, PPP dialer, IRC client and much more.

CLiPS already features:

Plug and Play hardware detection, CMD drives native support, extremely fast and powerful GUI, Multitasking and Multithreading, file browser (Pathfinder), Drag and Drop, Basic Shell, configureable desktop and much more.

Now imagine the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS:

The new operating system: =WiNGS= is born and will take you and your C64 to new heigths.
