cbm4win: Accessing CBM drives from Windows NT / 2000 / XP |
19:56 |
FYI, here’s a shorted copy from Spiro’s announce in comp.sys.cbm:
"
Announce: cbm4win 0.1.0 (floppy image transfer)
[...]
I’m proud to announce the availability of cbm4win, version 0.1.0 (first public release).
What is cbm4win?
cbm4win is a port of cbm4linux [1] to Windows. It
allows for access to a VIC 1540, 1541, 1570, 1571,
or even 1581 floppy drive from the PC on Windows
NT, 2000 and XP.
Which operating systems are supported?
Currently, there is support for Windows NT 4.0,
Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003 Server.
Previous versions of NT have not been tested, but
they might work, too.
[...]
What hardware is needed in order to use cbm4win?
Of course, you need a PC running Windows NT, 2000, XP,
or 2003. Furthermore, you need a real drive, like the
VIC 1540, 1541, 1570, 1571, or 1581 (1581 not fully
supported). Then, you need an XA1541, XM1541, XAP1541
or XMP1541 cable in order to connect the driver with
the PC.

Open letter to C64 related groups, companies and organisations
If your activity doesn?t support C64 scene. If you sell or advertise product which doesn?t have anything to do with Commodore 64 or other computers from Commodore 8 bit family. If you use names of C64 related products (hardware or software) or graphics, or musics, or ideas in products which doesn?t support C64 scene. If you ask money from people for services and activities which aren?t supporting the Commodore 64 related development of new hardware or software. Simply if you use C64.sk news portal to advertise activities which (according to our best knowledge) aren?t supporting C64 scene and demoscene. We reserve the right to remove your post from the main news without notification or explanation.
Since the beginning we have been trying to explain and educate users of this news portal that it is a non-commercial, non-retro C64 scene news portal. Anything which is connected with retro and nostalgiac feelings was cosidered unwelcome here. Today I have to add one or two more non things. It is also non-religional and generally intolerant against any kind of brainwashing except of our own. Thank you.

Game Over(view) Issue #11 |
07:48 |
While you thought your lives were finally rid of us, instead despite falling into every other magazines trap of lateness and delays, nonetheless november brings another issue of Game Over(view). As your good friend and mine, the comic book guy, would say, "Worst. Diskmag. Ever.", and indeed this issue is true to that statement, once again sacrificing the bright glimmer style for the dull glow of medicority. (Unlike previous issues, however, at least this issue does have one redeeming feature, being a spiffy new intro by Iopop and Twoflower - thanks much, guys!).
