1400 new SIDs in this update. Enjoy!
Oh, did I mention we have a real HVSC updatetro this time? Inge Pedersen took the time to pixel, convert and code, and Agemixer donated an exclusive tune. The result can be found here.

Btw .. the reason it’s not zipped or RAR’ed is because I’m using a compression program called asPack which has a much better compression ratio than rar (Rar = 260k , aspack = 250k{including decompressor}) and stores its decompression code in the EXE itself thereby negating the need for a bulky decompression proggy.
I changed the name back to rosetta when I found out hat there was already a win32 dissassembler called BORG.
I have added a very basic sprite hunter , to use it , dissassemble the prg in question and then click the Sprites tab on the right hand side , then click the bytes grid on the left hand side and move around with your cursor keys and pgup, pgdown the sprites panel will show you a graphic representation of the sprite gfx while you’re moving around (you can see the position in the program in the statusbar {Bottom}).
hopefully soon I’ll extend this into a fully fledged sprite ripper/editor , but I’m still working hard to find a way to dissassemble .prg files and get around the ’branch out of range’ problem
you can change the bytes grid to ascii, hex or dec, by right clicking and selecting your preference, but program position will only be displayed for hex at this point .
the assemble and run functionality works well as long as you set up the paths properly and I have fixed the font dialog, but mind the size of the font, the grid does not resize dynamically.
I have also added code that will remember your window preferences , is a vertical slide bar between the byte grid and the tab menu and a horizontal between those and the output panel , if you resize these , they will be stored in an INI file and reloaded next time you start Rosetta ..
hope you find this usefull and interesting , please feel free to submit feedback (good or bad) as it only helps make the app more usefull ..
if you have any questions or suggestions please mail me at : Kline9@yahoo.com
With the 100 new intros added to the site today we now have 2000 intros online! Many intros from Avantgarde, Hotline and Unicess were added this time as well as 3 new groups: The Dream Team, Brutal and Quartet.
Druid has done some upgrading of the site code so now theres a search function and the possibility to get our news via RSS feed instead of the newsletter.
And finally weve sorted out the mess on the Illusion page, giving the 3 different groups their own pages.
The updates are:
(*) Rare Daffy Duck artwork uncovered.
(*) Creator of Metal Wars, Henk Dekker, speaks to GTW about his game.
(*) Jon Wells confirms and gives information on two of his games.
(*) Rubicon 2 scans finally online.
Small updates will follow, including a new unreleased C64 preview by Jon Wells and hopefully some more goodies. One particular UPTG game preview will be coming soon.
Love blooms. Clouds disperse. Things change. Memories fade. In the year of our Lord two thousand and five, Unreal is proud to present version 2.97 of the TFX music editor.
Along with the usual features of TFX, including a modern player/editor, while actively avoiding having to remember irrelevant hex numbers for commands when a symbolic name will do, mutiframe (up to 10x on all channels, and 72x on a single channel) support, the player has undergone major cosmetic surgery for this release. The full announcement shows all of the exciting new features since our last release, with a download here
New game fixes for IDE64 users: Bloodwych, Blues Brothers, Jahangir Khan Squash, Solar Jetman, Oil Imperium (English) and Summer Challenge.

Crimp is a 2d shooter for the c64.
Two player fight each other with their hovercrafts on 8 different areas. The aim of the game is to hit your opponent most often with plasma units and to win in most areas possible. Though being simple in game principle I think it makes a lot of fun.
In addition quite cool animated overlay sprites are being used...
Here is a brief list of the most important changes compared to previous years:
There now is a exciting new Executable Music competition, which comes in two flavours - oldschool and newschool. The oldschool part is merged with the previous SID music competition and allows users of all kind of old hardware to submit self-running music productions. The newschool part is primarily targetted at increasingly large group of coders and musicians working on soft-synth engines targetted at 64kb and 4KB intros, but also open for Chiptunes and other kind of music where the music data and the player together take up a maximum of 32KB.
The size limit for the Demo compos has been slightly increased to 16MB, due to popular demand
As there has only been a very small number of releases in past years, Linux entries no longer are allowed in the PC Demo compo
Due to the very small number of releases at BP2004, and a general lack of activity inside the mac scene, there won?t be a Mac demo compo this year
Comments and discussions regarding these changes are welcome in our Competitions Forum. Questions can also be directed to our hotline email address at
Good things come to those who wait, so the releases of Replay Copy Convention 2004 are finally online. Along with some updated information on Replay Copy Convention 2005 you can find them at the RCC homepage at www.pokefinder.org.

SIDin #7 out

Issue 7 of SIDin magazine (Openoffice/PDF) is out:
look at Modulus engine and xxlarge tune from the inside and read the Dustbin (Stefano Palmonari) interview!
The editors of Armchair Arcade are proud to announce the release of their sixth issue. This first-year anniversary issue is packed with in-depth and well-written articles on many controversial topics. In "Finish Him!," Mat Tschirgi explores the history of fighting games and laments the lack of innovation in this genre. Matt Barton steps up next with a superb article entitled "Hackers, Slackers, and Shackles," in which he offers a history of proprietary game development and explains why we should quit being "dead-end users" and reclaim the creative origins of computing. Next up is Patty McCabe-Remmell?s "A Game of Concentration," in which she makes the surprising claim that videogames offer a promising form of therapy for children and adults suffering from attention deficit disorder. It?s well-researched and sure to make you think. David Torre?s "Shutting Down Windows" explains why we gamers need to shutdown Windows for good and jump on the GNU/Linux bandwagon. Rounding out this issue is Bill?s review of two miniconsoles, the Atari Flashback and the Commodore 64 30-in-1, and an anecdotal piece called "Computer Camp Castrophes" by Mat Tschirgi. All of this, plus another outstanding painted cover by our resident art master, Seb Brassard. We hope you?ll check us out and help spread the word!

Yepp, two of the founding members of this legendary group has answered our questions about the old scene days. Its good reading so get over there now!
i have released sources of my 3D Engine called DALAMAN v1.0 in accordance with 3d series articles in our beloved mag Publication. you need make, acme and vice to get them working in a comfortable work environment. get it from csdb or pouet
For this new year. I have done an improved version of For Speed We Need. The routines have been modified to make it bug free (I hope), also features presentation, some new sprites, additional graphics and quality (I think) music. This game has potential :). grab it.

Slangin in the new year
19:46
Slang is a programming language for the C64. The latest beta is fairly complete and stable, so Ive decided to make it public.
Ive started setting up a web page at www.ffd2.com/fridge/slang/ containing binaries of demo programs, ascii versions of demo source code and disassemblies, the main slang binaries, etc. Check it out and see what you think!
I?ve checked CSDB and then VORC and found quite interesting release. A music composed by Little-Nero, "one of the most skillful composers in Japanese chiptune MOD scene" (according to VORC C64 news section. "Perhaps he?s the second Japanese SID composer following mjt)" continues VORC. Get the music here: Gagarin.sid (2:22)
At www.digitaltalk.de you can find the Issue 70 of Digital Talk. On the bonusdisc you find a new Crack "Mission Transmitter" from 8R0TK4ST3N and some stuff from JSL. Good New Year.
