Since the amount of released commercial c64 games is on an alltime low (and probably only getting worse), I think it is ok for Metal Dust to be aired here. But I also agree that it shouldn’t be so extensively. A simple ’press statement’ and link would have been better. And the above posts have made me... strangely enough... hallucinating about whipped cream... *drools Homer-style*

CreaMD: I don’t really get this constant need for censorship. People can draw their own conclusions. So some anonymous person is criticizing the news posted here? Who cares? We all know that it’s been getting worse for some time, and instead of removing inappropriate news posts you threaten to remove comments by people who mention the obvious. I can see how these posts make you irritated, but it sure won’t make you look better in anyone’s eyes if you do things this way.

Inspired by that IDE64 hack, I wonder if there also would be space for a 2.5" HD inside a breadbox C64. While I don’t understand Czech and can’t tell what the comments say about the holes for a DSUB29 and DSUB9, it seems the connectors for a IDE HD (and floppy?) become unused when the card is built in the case.
Anders Carlsson

I believe it refers to the post about how to build in the IDE64 interface in a C64, and the project as posted seems to cause bugs, so it is not recommended to follow it until the error is fixed. Maybe there were too few patch cables and loose components to make it work.

content of c64.sk news are as good, as the activity in the scene. If majority of sceners spend time doing websites, weblogs, collections, forums and whatever else stuff "around c64", then we shouldn?t be surprised about the content of the news. The initial purpose of this page is to support active C64 sceners who produce software for C64 and/or using C64. My intention is still the same. To give creative people the publicity and feedback. If there was more articles (like e.g. The Dark Court ;-)) that’s one of the things I like to have here. Purpose of this site didn?t change.. just it?s twisting and bending around the activity of the C64 scene. ;-)

Hi my name is Jason,
I recently visited www.c64.sk and wanted to offer my services. We could help you with your Commodore 64 website.

We create websites that mean business for you! Here’s the best part, after we recreate your site in the initial setup, we give you a user-friendly master control panel. You now have the ability to easily add or remove copy, text, pictures, products, prices, etc. When YOU want to!

I would be happy to contact you and brainstorm some ideas.

Regards
-Jason

I’ve got a handful similar requests from Russian web site builders to improve and make business out of my homepage (which btw has been down since February or so, due to my lazyness). The requests seem to be sent out by hand, but it is remarkable if a commercial web site developer can not differentiate between a personal or non-profit web site from one that makes business, and can not differentiate from a poorly developed one and a well done one (like c64.sk). Even more funny since CreaMD is running his own web design/development company.

[57] : 02. Aug 2005 16:19
And I suppose he received it by e-mail. It would hilarious to see someone post that kind of offer into open news, like telling all the visitors that you think this website could be improved. Ok, maybe some of us think so, but we’d not blatantly say it through the news items on the first page?
Anders Carlsson

[58] : 02. Aug 2005 18:01
[57] Actually this site can be imrpoved.. I could remove about 1 error and 429 warnings detected by Tidy.. I should add better support for external search and help visitors coming (e.g.) from google to get to the information they looked for.. I should add rss feed, caching system.. temporary links.. seo-friendly URLs etc. etc. etc. Btw. the site reached 1 000 000 th session since the launch.

MacGyver

[68] : 17. Aug 2005 00:32
@66: by that logic most software companies qualify as scene groups, because sceners work there. we shall add E3 aswell coz sony is there and sceners work at sony! o_O @67: and what do they do there besides advertising their product(s) ? if you add a mega commercial event like GC just because some c64 sceners are there, you should add all and every other party aswell, including the LAN meetings. i’m sure there are some c64 sceners on all of them.

[70] : 17. Aug 2005 12:51
@ 68: They don’t only advertise their products, but also others’ (and the C64 in general) as you can read at the linked page. The GO64! page is linked, not the GC one. Also, GO64! is a partner of c64.sk. I don’t see it so much as a problem. No one is forced to go there. By including GC, people will see that the C64 is present at GC.

What if 20 people storm into the games convention with their C64s, occupy one half of the room and begin hacking away? If they bring 20 big, armed bodyguards too, it could get interesting when the organisers try to get them away. For maximum effect, the C64s and equipment can be loaded on a truck that smashes into the exhibition hall. That’d be one damn party!

CreaMD

[101] : 04. Sep 2005 13:14
Not to mention that if running sidplay2 at 32khz is anything to go by, 32khz is nowhere near the 1mhz sample rate of a c64 :)

[102] : 04. Sep 2005 13:14
[99] Ok checked "destination3" sample.. it sounds like stripped back to AY chip sound. Sinus waves and uncomprehensible percussions rule. Those new sounds just don’t get it right.
CreaMD

[103] : 04. Sep 2005 13:19
"This module can emulate behavior of SID chip, but it is lot more powerful and let you experience the new dimension of C64 music." - yeah.. playing air guitar to CLEVE.
CreaMD

[104] : 04. Sep 2005 13:25
"SwinSID can be used with any of C64 model and can replace an old or new revision of SID. To run it, all you need is to open your computer, remove SID chip and put this module in its socket. Power voltage is taken from c64, so special power supply is also unnecessary. " - now that?s what I call an improvement. All you need is to remove your old crappy weird unprofessional sounding SID chip and replace it by this powerful and highly advanced AY-wannabe.
CreaMD

[105] : 04. Sep 2005 13:39
Ok after listening session to samples (multiple times) I must admit that it’s listenable and has the potential to cause exactly the same kind of oldschool headache feeling as any other historical or contemporary chipmusic device. I especially reccomend Hubbards’s "Formula_1_Simulator.sid" rendition coming under "another2" name... it’s brutally (pardon my french) hartkor kopf schlagen.
CreaMD

[106] : 05. Sep 2005 00:43
Maybe it would have been a better idea to make a daughter board that both takes a SID chip and this wavetable beast. I believe there is enough I/O space in the C64 memory map to host both. It’d be like having stereo SID, but one chip being different from the other. There could even be a register to switch mapping of the two chips, if one so wishes. With nine instruments stored in flash ROM, does it refer to the wavetable or actual instrument definitions (w/ ADSR, waveform, non-existing filter etc)? It doesn’t say if it emulates ring mod and sync.
Anders Carlsson

[107] : 05. Sep 2005 20:42
Placing SwinSID aside with SID sounds fun. Output could be routed to SID input pin. Also what about adding RAM to SwinSID for uploading wavetable samples? That would be neat.
Mr. Man

[108] : 06. Sep 2005 05:06
could the output be routed to an elephant?

[109] : 06. Sep 2005 16:53

I think there will be at least four parts in a choir, so of course the SID chip could be programmed to play back the three parts you don’t sing yourself, or you spend a lot of time arpeggio tweaking so it appears like two parts on one channel.

Another "mainstream" party that cut off the C64 competitions. IMO, oldschool is another word for retro which doesn?t have anything to do with creative scene. ?I wonder how can C64 tradition work with something so vague as "anything that is old will do...".

I’ve added a TEXY formatter to news adding form, now it should detect url’s and emails correctly and it also has a lot more stuff you can use to format your news. The generated output is valid XHTML which is a plus as I plan to get this site sources valid sooner or later. I hope it won’t get more messy this way ;-)

Tomcat: Polgar Tamas, 1976 (Hungary) – organiser of famous hungarian FLAG party and also organiser of Hungarian bus-trips to european parties. Wrote a book about the history of the scene.

Jazzcat, David Simmons, 1973 (Australia) – magazine editor. one of the most influencing people in the C64 scene. Very important person behind projects like Games That Weren’t, Vandalism News, Onslaught, Driving force of OZ scene and much more.

And me… ;-)

Hereby I would like to congratulate us for the good work and wish us a lot of energy for our efforts concerning C64 scene.

creamd & co, happy birthday! :) by the way, I think the dtv news is some kind of scene related since csdb even has dtv fixed releases now and many are intersted in that modification of the dtv.

it might have been scene related if it had been a DIY article. fully agree with oswald there

gpz

Commercial news are ok here. The more they are scene related the better. This one is pretty much close to my definition of scene realated. The image is nice proof os concept (I would say) so I will add it to the news spot and leave it in the main news.

[230] : 03. Nov 2005 20:08

happy birthday roman, I am eagerly waiting for all the protovision and go64 news pointing to non existent articles. imho if some1 sells something for $$$ thats not scene related.

Oswald

[231] : 03. Nov 2005 20:11

its also very frustrating, that in hope I click on the link to read an article, and then all what I found is that „we’ll hack ur dtv for $$$“. This is _NOT_ news but advertising. Since when is advertising something for $$$ is scene related ?

Oswald

[232] : 03. Nov 2005 20:12

also add the frustrating factor, that the link is not direct, but leads you to the go64 main page, where everything is about selling, then you need about half minute to figure out where to click to find the „article“ you search for. but there’s no article just an advertisement.

Oswald

[233] : 03. Nov 2005 21:18

Yes you are right. That?s why I have added the direct link to the picture and 2 links to alternative (original?) sources about DTV hacking. That IMO makes that news spot qualified for staying in the news.

As far as PTV is concerned. Without long discussions. I consider every person producing new software and hardware for C64 a scener and I really don?t care about traditional divison between legal an illegal scene and all that stuff. That is long gone. Also DMAgic & Protovision are in a sort of coop since ages (we even still share some members).

As far as GO64 is concerned the reasons are roughly the same. GO64 is magazine started by sceners and for sceners. I haven?t seen latest issues, but I consider that magazine a part of the scene too.

And last? before some person comes and explains my ?true reasons and motivations? ;-) Havent you heard that me and MacGyver (PTV), and Thuderblade (one of the former GO64 producers) are family since about year and month ago? ;-))

This server is all-through, from left to right, top to bottom part of my evil plot to conquer the world ;-).

But back to topic. I will support every commercial activity if it?s valid and helpful. And I won?t support any parasitism and such stuff. Doing conversions of C64 DTV for „dumb ppl.“ is as valid and positive business as doing XE1541 cables for money. Not everyone can do this on their own. That’s why I for example have buttons linking to 8-bit designs or IDE64 project.

And as far as those cables are concerned I hope STA won?t come and kick me to butt for defending of people selling cables inveted by him and not paying tantiems ;-)

CreaMD

[234] : 03. Nov 2005 22:21

what makes STAs cables different from (most of) the PTV and Go64 stuff is – he published the shematic, and offers people without soldering skills to make the cables for them. thats perfectly ok. what ptv/go64 does is offering products, without even giving a hint on the shematics (which in case of the dtv werent even invented by them). and thats in no way sceneish imho, thats commercial. oh well. maybe if someone else publishes them they will update they site and afterwards pretend they always have been available (check comments on the ptv 4 player adapter on csdb for a simelar incedent)

gpz

[235] : 03. Nov 2005 22:35

[234] Yep, I agree with you that if they don’t give some info about how to build the hack then it’s commercial and maybe even not very altruistic, and they should publish some… mhm… tutorial or something. But according to that philosophy I should allow news about cracks of new games, because that’s scenerish. I have addded those links so people (interested) will see how the hack is done and they can possibly try to build it and yet I left the news and link to the pic.. which is (sort of ;-) very nice ;-) (

CreaMD

[236] : 03. Nov 2005 23:03

GO64! had reported about DTV hacking in their magazine and refered to sources with all info, etc. :)

And you are welcome for my Birthday Wishes, Roman :)

[237] : 04. Nov 2005 04:42

„But according to that philosophy I should allow news about cracks of new games, because that’s scenerish.“

oh yes you should indeed. just like csdb, all cracks or none. sigh

and btw, the links to the ntsc stuff dont help anyone with a pal dtv :=P

gpz

[238] : 04. Nov 2005 06:57

hehe, your explanation is just plain wrong,

1. ordering a d2tv from go64.de costs 24.99 eur 2. the d2tv modification costs 34 eur

somebody is making biiiiig profit here, aint it ?

oh, and where are the schematics, and info on how to modificate a pal dtv ?

" if they don?t give some info about how to build the hack then it?s commercial"

you said it.

3. sta asked as minimal money for his cables as production costs. no more no less.

4. a posted news which looks like a link to an article, but you find an advertisement, is incorrect. I want to keep the right to know if there’s and advertisment or an article behind the link. „PAL D2TV Hacked blah blah… link“ is just very unfair against the reader. Make it „GO64 mods your DTV for $$$“ why didnt you add it like that ??? What was the purpose ?

Oswald

[239] : 04. Nov 2005 10:14

[237] Then write your own article about DTV hacking and post it.

„oh yes you should indeed. just like csdb, all cracks or none. sigh“ – I’m „some cracks“ supporter. Amen. ;-)

[238] I don’t care about anyone making any profit by selling hardware or software or paper mags. Yes I said I’m „supporting“ (not removing from news) commercial activities at c64.sk. C64.sk runs like this since the very beginning. I don’t like retro though, so that get’s trashed very often.

3. That’s positive thing. He is a cool guy and I like him. I just recall that he didn’t like people parasiting on his ideas (source comp.sys.cbm)

4. Ok I’ll change the title. You’re right that, it’s kind of yellow press style title.

creamd

[240] : 04. Nov 2005 10:42

WTF is DTV?

Juliettebird

[241] : 04. Nov 2005 10:50

DTV = Direct to TV, a plug-ing joystick containing 30 Commodore 64 games. NTSC version was released last year, PAL version is different and now widely available in Europe

Merman

[242] : 04. Nov 2005 12:43

[243] : 04. Nov 2005 13:48

[242] I tried my best to make it valid for the scene although I thought about erasing it in about split second. Then I thought. Why should I kick out plug by real C64 magazine when I leave big-mouth announcements about retro magazines in the news.

It?s THAT simple, Hollowman. Of course it?s possbile that he dosn?t have cyberweed account at CSDB yet. – Just checked, he doesn’t. Just CrUdSm0k3r.

Edited the Onslaught Fungus II release to remove what i’m guessing was a Texy-inserted line break, totally wiped the downloads and started from scratch from Feb. 1st – i’m planning to keep one eye on from now on so it doesn’t get out of hand.

[388] : 06. Feb 2006 14:52

How can Triad have the first release of Fungus 2 – just one news item below we can read that GTW released the game, so they were first! LOL

@388: You don’t get it at all. Right as we speak, I am preparing the first release of mine. And it WILL be the first release, because I have never released Fungus 2 before. You’ll have to wait a day or 2 to see it, though, cause I am still struggling with the copy protection.

it shouldnt be hard to prevent this shit coming – luckily the spam isnt very varied, it all points to www.network54.com so all you need is a filter that does not allow any news items with this address in the content. you may want to add other nasty words to the filter, like „retro“, „remix“, „mp3“ and alike :D

@ 426: Most news sites do that, but often it lasts some hours or even days until news get visible. And it’s extra work for the admins ;-)

Waveform. The proud american as he used to call himself on #c-64 back in times when NTSC scene was waking up from silence again. Since I met him and saw his first demo sometimes 94? Waveform was learning very fast and became one of the most skilled active NTSC coders at that time. Today he would have celebrated 32 years if I count correctly, but cancer ended his life sooner. Waveform died on 23rd, April 1997.

On the other hand if it had been a PC emulator in an Amiga emulator running on a C64.. that would be a real feat! Hey, I’m satisfied with just a 100% Amiga 500 emulator on the C64 - I’d even accept SuperCPU, RAMlink and CMD HD as the requirements. Rick Balkins, are you listening? ;-)

[481] : 02. Apr 2006 00:17
[480] Well.. I also failed for one joke today. My wife is blogging at major slovak blogging service powered by website of SME newspapers (one of the top 3 slovak daily papers) and she received a personal message from admin that according to subscriptiton rules (KODEX) every blogger having more than 10 spots in their blog must pay 300,-Sk yearly. She was quite suprised and I suggested her to backup all her spots and quite blogging there (it’s a matter of principles not money) etc.. I felt a bit puzzled about it so I concated one of my friends who was one of the creators of that service and told him that it’s quite stupid and he just told me that I fell for april joke.. sheeesh.. some hours later they explained that they thought it’s a good idea how to force everyone to read the blogger’s codex so they did it ;-)) Nice.

[484] : 02. Apr 2006 19:15
The question is which is better; that C64.sk closes down for good (like many community sites use as an April’s Fools joke) or that it transforms into an Atari site? Maybe that is about the same thing?
Anders Carlsson

[485] : 02. Apr 2006 22:06
[484] I find "closing down" and "busted" jokes quite stupid although even more stupid probably was the joke about "Duke 3d" converted to Atari2600. or the joke about Worms Armageddon converted to ZX Spectrum.

2 times I was playing with Microsoft IE filters and javascript jokes and that brought about 3 times as much visitors to c64.sk but last year and this one I tried what I always dreamed about.. the "conversion" to different plattform ;-) It brought less "fame" but at least it makes some positive advertising for this Atari news site. Anyway.. I did this joke last time. *promise* ;-))

It’s interesting to watch this. I think it’s not necessary to comment this abuse. Everyone knows what’s going on. After 5 years this is first real abuse of open-news system and I think I can celebrate that it lasted so long until this has finally happened ;-). I always thought about this situation and how I would solve it. Yes, it always comes up with making them less open.. That’s why I never wanted to do it, because as the time went by, the sceners had shown that this kind of regulation was unnecessary. A proof that C64 scene is really cool.

"Crank" (or kook, crackpot, or quack) is a pejorative term for a person who writes or speaks in an authoritative fashion about a particular subject, often in science, but is alleged to have false or even ludicrous beliefs. Usage of the label is often subjective, with proponents of competing theories labeling their opponents cranks, but typically is used to describe someone who is well out of mainstream opinion on a matter.

[787] Sidplay2/w sid umulation is *far* from crappy. ReSID engine produces the most accuarate SID emulation to date. Suggest a better .sid player and I will include it in reccomendations (after I check it with few tunes ;-) The rest in PM at CSDB.

Has the composer guessing game already started? ;-) @nata: right middlefinger from me for calling a 99% accurate sid emulation crap just because there’s a 99.2% solution out there. That’s the way to go if you want to discourage people from future development on it.

[801] : 25. Oct 2006 09:28
[800] No guessing please ;-) But you can send me your ideas through e-mail.
creamd

[802] : 25. Oct 2006 09:42
[800] @steepe: Ahh good, then I will go on! ;-) But seriously: Of course it’s not crap, but the wrong tool to listen SID tunes in a compo. You seem to forget how a real 6581 & 8580 sounds. Just trust me if I tell you that Hoxs64 is more accurate (8580) then reSID (Sidplay2/w).
nata

[803] : 25. Oct 2006 10:08
[802] 1. How about examples? Like samples from real machine, Hoxs64 and Siplay? Just stating that something is better doesn’t help to change my mind.

2. Also. How can I listen to Hoxs64 with resampling when P4 2,4 GHz can’t run it 100%.

3. You missed the times when there were argues about sid emulation. They are over already. SID emulation is acceptably accurate and there is no musician (except of you) that would complaint about emulation nowaydas. Or is there any?

4. You won’t force anyone to use Hoxs64 for listening, you can’t even force some lazy bums to quit using some inaccurate plugins for winamp. etc. Everyone uses what he wishes to use. Therefore demanding to use Hoxs64 for SID Compo 6 listening is futile activity.

5. The best is to reconcile with the fact that not everyone has enough taste to choose the best option. Oggs are option, we just need the place to host them. I don’t want to put them at c64.sk even when it would be just few tens or hundreds of downloads (max).

6. There also will be D64 with real machine executables (.prg files) at the voting phase, but again, we can’t force people to use the real machine to judge the tunes. If they don’t feel like using C64 just because of sid-compo listening, they won’t do it, and it’s okay. The times of crappy and buggy emulation are over. Quality of ReSID emulation is acceptable for majority of listeners (for few years already), same with Vice, and CCS64... there is just that shrinkening area where they can be pushed forward, but that’s negligible.

7. Only real reason (although not rational) that I would accept to be complained about is the "feeling". Emulation is just cold, detached. Real machine rules. Yes. I know that feeling. E.g. I somehow can’t compose great tune with goattracker and never used music editor in emulator to compose a tune, it just don’t feel right to compose on PC. Real machine got under my skin. That’s why I still use DMC5.0+ or double speed version.

8. And last but not least. This compo is about music. Music can be listened in radio, record, tape, mobile phone, big speakers, small speakers. Crappy or high-end equippment. It can be sung and interpreted by anyone anywhere on anything (badly or with style). Sometimes you just sing it lalala on your way home, work or shop. If it’s good it has the potential to kick butt and get high in charts. Anyone will recognise it even from few seconds of listening. If it’s average.. it won’t really help that people are playing it 100% accurately. Capisci?
creamd

[804] : 25. Oct 2006 10:12
[802] I don’t want to argue what is better. But I want to point out that your bigmouthed attitude comes across disrespectfully, down to the point of being insulting. Why does the german saying "Ist der Ruf erst ruiniert, lebt sich’s g?nzlich ungeniert" (once the reputation is ruined, there’s no need for good measures anymore) suddenly pop up in my head?

[805] : 25. Oct 2006 10:35
@steppe Da hast wohl recht! :)
nata

[806] : 25. Oct 2006 10:40
@creamd Well, the interpolations-mode is planned for one of the next versions. So, it even will work on slower PC’s. :) The biggest downside of Sidplay2/w is that you can’t activate "resampling" or "interpolation". I can tell you tons of examples where the music sounds like **** just because of the missing "resampling" or "interpolation". (And YES! I know why it’s not included)... It’s no problem for me, if nobody likes Hoxs64. :)
nata

[807] : 25. Oct 2006 10:53
[806] It’s just about fame. Vice and CCS64 have beaten famous C64S and Power64 (or how was that other emulator named) because they were better. Same goes for Hoxs64. If it gets better than competition, it will get more used, and liked. And I still want to hear samples of examples of bad emulation. RealC64 sample, Sidplay and Hoxs64 compared. That will be only proof that I can accept. Or at least tell me the song and minutes where I should hear the difference between real C64 sound and emulated Sidplay and Hox64 version. That would also help me to understand your point.
CreaMD

[808] : 25. Oct 2006 11:18
@creamd f.ex: resSID (8580)compared to a REAL 8580, resonance is too low. noise waveform isn’t modelled accurate, it doesn’t produces clicks when it should. (You will hear it only in special cases). Hoxs64 You can test it with your tunes (guess, you know your own tunes very well). It doesn’t matter if you use only "downsample" (still sounds better then sidplay2/w with 8580 emulation. I’ve tested it with my tunes and a lot others.
nata

[809] : 25. Oct 2006 11:22
Ok tested. It plays some of my waveform combined tunes and other evil stuff quite well too. Btw. David Horrocks writes following about resampling: (22 January 2006 v1.0.4.6) 1) Added SID "resampling" and "down sampling" options to the emulation settings page. Previous versions implemented down sampling only. Resampling introduces less noise but requires significantly more CPU power than down sampling. Resampling is off by default. I don’t think it has anything to do with accurate emulation, just more "polished" output. Anyway hat off to David. I didn’t hear anything disturbing in the musics I’ve tested. ;-)
creamd

[810] : 25. Oct 2006 11:28
[808] Can’t 100% say that it sounds better, but it sounds acceptably good for a spoiled C64 musician like me. ;-) Ok. I think I will give Hoxs64 a boost and put it as an optional SID player (it’s really nice feature it can play SIDs ;-).
creamd

[811] : 25. Oct 2006 11:29

[856] I was planning this, but some people didn’t want to order tunes 1-35 but give same place to some tunes. In next sidcompo voting will be done on-fly.. that means as the tune comes you will be able to give it place.. put it into the rank on desired position. This way we will avoid the final 2-4 hours of hardcore listening and evaluation.

Probably a time for 2 stages at parties, or 2 round compos (one online?) where in the end just 10-15 best tunes would be presented for each plattform. As for PC party organising.. I give a fuck about what they do to keep/gain their pitiful ammount of visitors (in comparison to how much time that plattform needs to present itself on the party) if it?s not cutting C64 out of the schedule.. that is ;-)

I just saw some pictures of the new "Commodore" gaming PCs. Quite good specs on the high-end model, but I fear the price tags. They probably won’t become computers for the masses, unlike how the C64 once upon a time was marketed. It probably will be a short lived hype.

[940] ;-( Pity you couldn?t get it to the party. What went wrong with HU embassy?
creamd

[942] : 20. Mar 2007 11:45
@941: people in the embassy are mostly very critical when Hungarians from Serbia ask for visa. They probably think we’re about to escape from the country, settle in Hungary, rob banks, eat babies, mass-murder people or do other nasty stuff... They asked for documents which were impossible to get (as I’m officially unemployed), eventhought they never asked for such papers before, I already had three Hungarian long-term visas before, dozens of short-term visits to Hungary, even a valid Slovakian visa. This year the timing was also quite bad as riots were in preparation in Budapest against the gouverment, whilst most of the Hungarians from the diaspora truly hate the current leading party from their mother-country - so it might be that the embassy was warned to cut down the number of potential supporters of the riots. I might seemed like one.
I feel such a sadness when I, as a Hungarian, get the Slovakian visa without a word, whilst I’m considered as a fucking outsider criminal from the side of the gouverment of a country my main roots are from. God damn politics. :(
Jailbird

[943] : 20. Mar 2007 13:41
Argh ;-((( I’m really sorry hearing this. I wish I could help it somehow. Next year I could maybe send letter to HU embassy too? Is there chance to give some official protest or anything?
creamd

[944] : 20. Mar 2007 14:31
Soon I’ll try to get an invitation letter from a relative of mine. Now, an invitation letter from Hungary needs to be fully formal, signed by the immigration office, in a presence of two witnesses. The inviter has to have a steady income and a contant residence.
Compare that to the "just get some paper with your name on it, written by a Slovakian resident"-kind of paper for the Slovakian visa. Not sure whether I should laugh or cry.

AD: "DMC Music compo 2007 is launched" ... I don’t think it’s a good idea to restrict music compo to editor unless it has promotional purposes as in case of Goat Tracker v1 and v2. I had an idea for compo in mind which would be C64 sceners meet Atari and Speccy where they could use Raster’s music tracker (Atari) and Vortex trackers (Speccy) - both PC tools - to make music for other plattforms. I find that kinda original.. but having DMC compo is IMO really pointless ;-(((

@ 1036: A new release of a classic game should be worth a news posting (well, unless it’s totally crap). However, if there are more games released by the same group or person, it’s better to post them all at once rather than one news item per release.

@1052: What CreaMD said, and because Assembly usually has C64 releases, Evoke has a few, if any.
MacGyver

[1055] : 05. Aug 2007 22:19
half of the "parties" in the list didnt ever have a single c64 release, so that can’t be the reason =D
gpz

[1056] : 05. Aug 2007 23:13
Usually the "level of relatedness" would be a deciding factor, but now when it?s there, no need to argue about that.
CreaMD

[1057] : 06. Aug 2007 11:44
you mean a random electronic expo is more related than an actual scene party? no, that can’t be it =D (no i’m not arguing, just kidding =D)
gpz

[1058] : 06. Aug 2007 11:57
@ 1057: If you are refering to Hobby & Electronik, that usually has no C64 releases (sometimes it actually had), but two large C64 boothes, and one large booth for ComB?r.
Submit information to events which you think should be here to the NEWS (that’s one thing they are there for: announce events), and the event will usually be added to partyscope.
MacGyver

[1059] : 07. Aug 2007 10:59
i dare to say that at evoke there are more c64 sceners (and maybe even actual c64s) than on all "hobby and elektronik" or "hcc shows" combined :) and i’m still not argueing, just wondering about the strange reasoning involved =)

I think Richard was getting a bit overexcited - Could someone remove the GTW news entry, as its not strictly true. We didn’t find/release the game, just found that the guy who runs the Emlyn Hughes site had found it about a year ago, so we just updated our entry to say that :) Thanks!

Thanx. I’ve got a sudden inspiration how to do it and prevent the situations that happened with the old system. I’ll fix the formatting and design later. Current version gets html and splits and strips some stuff so I have limited possibility to format it, but Perff made a feed for that so I’ll have better control of tags and styles.

[1121] : 09. Oct 2008 09:41
I think, I found the BUG, why the ’Latest Downloads’ and the old ’Partyscope’ got broken, when edited !!! I edited a posting from yesterday, tested it and wanted to save it, but then it was GONE. Also the [Enter] will end up as ’rn’ in the posting at last, so you should use html code ’br’ instead. CreamD: Using new web-publisher?

I think this site is dead. As much as I loved it for a long span of time, but it’s deserted. Not the site’s fault, but there just isn’t enough 64 related news to keep people coming back on a regular basis, I think.

[1131] : 25. Dec 2009 18:12
Yeah yeah... celebrating death of the scene every year since I entered it. You are partially true, this site is neglected and it?s not it?s fault. It?s my fault. But as long as it serves the purpose it was created for, I don?t feel that guilty. Also, there is actually enough C64 news that I was always interested about (releases etc.) but not everyone is actively using it for promotion. As far as this site is concerned. I should make it compatible with contemporary reality, but somehow I lost the urge since my personal life caught me unprepared. We’ll see in future.

Thanks for the hint, Pawel. I didn’t know you tried to post the Attitude #10 news before. Only CreaMD receives "spam" items via email.
