Mekka & Symposium always had such a competition and also has one right now. But unfortunatetly c64 participation has always been rather low.

Ive seen the C64 entries of the Mekka Symposium 2002 party. However I dont approve of having to waggle a joystick, just to make excrement come out of the black hole :)
The musics were cool, but I thought that Welle Eerdballs song was poor. I would rate the following:
1. Fanta+Syndrom
2. Agemixer/Scallop
3. Eco/Excess
but it was the party votes that count :)
Demo wise I disliked the BASIC demos, but the assembly coded demos were brilliant. Especially WoWs Evolution.
Must have been quite a good party :)

Hey, I just came back from Mekka & Symposium.
Met a lot of weirdos (greets to CreamD :) and like the last year some old friends.
The only REALLY good demo was from WoW (my congratulations, nice work) and the other ones... well... not that good, but nice 4k entries.
Especially the 32k games were nice, but where have been the C64 entries? :-/
Greets to all visitors!
Thumbs up!

I am pretty disappointed with the Mekka Symposium releases, though. Only very few good ones.
Wasnt the Welle:Erdball song actually also released before the party on one of their albums?

Yeah, Krills 4k kicks ass! And btw. if you have OLD-SID please play my tune with that one, I composed a first old-sid tune ever at Mekka 2002 and I didnt even know about that until I came home. Remastered new-sid version comming soonish.

Krills 4K intro had to be the best 4k entry in the compo.
And no Emu-Fuxx0ring done either :)

Timesaver is also very cool. Seven showed what "coder does it with routine" mean in praxe ;-)).
CreaMD
[20] :
04. Apr 2002 15:29
Timesaver is ok as a parody, but its an art to put this into 4k, or did I miss something? Then again it could be considered a nice new approach to 4ks... Not sure about this one.

04. Apr 2002 21:00
On C64 or Amiga the 4k making is more about clever ideas and for me that counts more than fancy hardware dependent accelerated rendering which I noticed in PC 4k intros. Btw. I have one important question about Mainframe party. It seems that its only PC-Amiga oriented party so I consider if we should/should not announce it here at c64.sk what do you think?
CreaMD
[22] :
04. Apr 2002 22:00
CreamD: Yeah, Im starting to think the same thing about Mainframe, but Ive been told that there will also be C-64 compos (and there will be C-64 releases, thats for sure), although it seems the guy who made the web page fucked it up. Lets hope the web page will get updated with that info.
Puterman
[23] :
05. Apr 2002 02:21
im thinking of hammering a small and reasonably pretty release out for Mainframe and (if the C64 compo fails to appear) entering it in the PC compo as "unaccellerated" =-)
[24] :
05. Apr 2002 11:06
;-)))) Please, do!
CreaMD
[25] :
05. Apr 2002 12:30
Yeah, please to, so that well get a serious C-64 compo.

In the demo Dementia - Ive seen some raster flickers on the intro screen. (Reminds me of some crap intro screens I did in the past) :)

Richard:you got NTSC setup? It was the dudes first demo anyway.
Stryyker
[28] :
07. Apr 2002 03:26
Richard: Its an NTSC demo, the flickers are cos its worked out for a different standard so it blows its timings to shit. Use CCS64 and change it to 65 cycle NTSC mode before starting the file.
[29] :
07. Apr 2002 16:03
oops :) Okay, Ill check it out on NTSC mode then. Cheers guys :)

Not much of a reaction I dont know if it is happening with you, but when I try and display my web site (http://tnd64.cjb.net) I get an error 403 - forbidden. Message on every single page. What does this ERROR mean? Is it something to do with server problems? If this is the case, then there could be a major delay for me to update my web site.
Richard

Webpages updated group jumpings and relese promises.. is that only activity C64 people do nowadays? ;-))) Come on release something dudes.

Working on it [crosses fingers and hopes to find time...!]
[33] :
09. Apr 2002 09:10
Well, CreaMD, what would you want? People mostly release at parties (whats the last time you composed something not for a party? ;D) and as there were Floppy, Forever and Mekka lately, people must be completely juiced out. (Sq?)Wish em the rest they might deserve now. Theres too many parties, me thinks.

[34] :
09. Apr 2002 09:33
I compose a lot of tunes and motives just for my personal pleasure and dont release them. Last tune I did (its just a simple remix, but maybe someone will like it) is released in SidWine compo. I will release 110% version of my Mekka tune soon. Also Mekka for most C64people must have been inspiration and energiser, for me it was ;) although I need a break from completely different reasons now.

Good poing Roman, if theres one thing that I (should have) learned during the years, then its not to raise expectations, but rather to surprise.

Mainframe? Yeah, Im hoping to enter the demo compo and music compo. Im still working on my Civitas demo for the party, but Ill try and get it finished for 25th April, and upload my entry via FTP. :)
As for the music. Youll have to wait and see what I have in store :)

Richard: The deadline is 22nd April for entries being emailed/FTPd.
[46] :

Should be no problem. ....and there may be a possibility that the final version HMD may be released at Mainframe 2002 before I release it on TND

Cool. Maybe you should run a compo, which is to get the demo scene to write a birthday demo for C64.sk. What do you think about that?
