Well, well well. Time for a laugh. - I did :) See the Urine version of ’Bomb Chase’? Ha ha. Nice one Onslaught :) I couldn’t help laughing at some of the comments mentioned in the scrolltext. These are funny jokes, but - this game is too good to be lame :)

Hmm...highest ranking of a Goattracker tune so far?!(North Party V7.0) :)

[10] : 07. Oct 2002 17:37
Cadaver: pssst.. some fanatical purists who’ve voted for the tune could be listening ;-))

Btw.: Been there, took photos, met pipul, had a lotsa fun. Wait for some photos and few words guys.

Things are starting to get out of hand, regarding first-releases. I wish people would stop faking other groups and put me down as a bad person. There’s a fake ’Excess’ release someone has uploaded on to the FTPs, and I’m not very happy about this. I have been accused of doing this, but I did not.

Why haven’t I competed on North Party?
By Jailbird/Booze Design

Quote from my email conversation with the organizer:

Email one:

> Hello respected NP organiser! :)

> handing over scrolling pictures? At least that if workstages are still not a

Hello.
Black Light on da keyz :)
Of coz, gfx can be scrooled. Must be only unsigned

Email two:

> Thank you for replying to my mail, but I think that you missunderstood me. I meant about
> _disqualifying_ scrolling pictures. There is a serious thread on the mekka&symposium
> forum, maybe you’d be interested, and perhaps change your mind :)
heh, i`m understand you. you want to show in competition picture made on feew screens, whih will bee scrolled on screen?
if yes, than no problem :)) as organizers we are realy elastic, every scene activity are welcome on our party :)))
we only disqualifying (in gfx compo) converted images, but I known oyur style of painting, dont worry, your graphic will be shown on copmetition :))))
i been one time on ms, for me that`s not copy party, but machine to made some money :(

...and then I decided to drop my mind and quit bothering myself.
God save me for doing another compo-picture in my whole life!...

[13] : 08. Oct 2002 16:27
Well if you ain’t busy, Jailbird...? =-)

[14] : 08. Oct 2002 16:29
Jailbird: Too late. Anyway Forever 4 will have that rule in gfx-rules.
CreaMD

[15] : 08. Oct 2002 20:52
Jailbird: Did I interpret that post above correctly? You did not enter because the NP-organisers failed to disqualify scrolling pictures? What’s the problem with bigger gfx than 320x200? Would graphics in the borders also be a problem? I’m sorry, but I fail to see what the big fuzz about it is - maybe I’m misinterpreting.
Dane

[16] : 08. Oct 2002 21:17
I guess the point was JailBird asked the NP-organisers: "Please add a rule to your Graphic-Compo saying ?Pictures which are scrolling (=larger than one screen) are forbidden?". The NP-organisers thought "Someone wants to enter the NP-GFX-compo with a scrolling (=larger than once screen)- picture and asks us wether it was okay with us - and yes, it is."
Quite a misunderstanding indeed.

[17] : 08. Oct 2002 22:36
Personally, I would not enter any gfx compo that would accept my contribution, but that’s just me :)
Tdj

[18] : 08. Oct 2002 22:46
Graphics bigger than 320x200 is ok, but scrolling sucks for a graphic competition I agree with JB. I consider scrolling the same thing as color cycling effects, animations etc. in graphics. It distracts from the original graphic and gives people other reasons than quality to vote for it. Don’t get me wrong, it can look very good, but is not fair in competition and should enter the demo competition instead.

[19] : 08. Oct 2002 23:29
Shake yeah I also agree with Jailbird. However, I don’t like to see his personal correspondence with organiser (Black Light) here. Black Light is a great dude and when he misunderstood the meaning of Jailbirds words there is a simple reason for that. Believe it or not. polish scene is a phenomenon on it’s own. Something like separate scene in the scene. They have their own magazines, their own news sites (2!!), and mailing list. So they didn’t even notice that there was a discussion at c64.sk (and maybe somewhere else too) about this problem. It’s simply a big misunderstanding. MacGyver explained it right. When I imagine that NP7 was practically a single-person organisation, he did a great job and it’s not very honest to blame him for the fact that he is not fully acquainted with this problematics. Simply... s..t happens doods. Let’s hope it will get better on upcoming parties ;-).
CreaMD

[20] : 10. Oct 2002 13:20
dane, i’ve no problem with pictures in borders. only with demos which are, for some strange reason, called "compo-pictures", and being let to compete against picture-stills.

creamd: seems i wasn’t awared of a standalone polish c64 scene, nevertheless i must point out i have nothing against black light. i thought i’m clear enough when sending those two mails, i got tired and either dissapointed after seeing his second answer. who wouldn’t?
anyway, good to hear the news about forever4. as always, you rule the friggin breadbox, roman! :)

[21] : 10. Oct 2002 19:51
Wooow!
I downloaded a few North Party 7 releases from Elysium’s FTP and I was amazed with the entries for the compos.

The thing that blasted my socks off were some of the cool entries in each category.

I loved one of the Reflextracker entries, which was ’Slice me Nice’, a cool 80’s style disco tune (I like 80’s music you see). There were some good demos, and great SID entries. I send my respect to all those who contributed to the party. I hope everyone had a good time.

Where can I get demo instruments for Reflextracker from? I like to try and do 1980’s style disco tracks :)

[22] : 11. Oct 2002 08:50
I agree with Richard, some very nice releases from North Party, the top two demos were very good.

[23] : 11. Oct 2002 16:55
Yeah! NP7 rewls! Been there, stay tuned for some photoreport ppl! ;-)) Jailbird I wish (dream ;-)) I ruled more with my creativity than with organisational things. ;-)).

Added the Amiga + Retro Computing 2002 fair to the partyscope since the Commodore One will be presented and sold there.

[25] : 13. Oct 2002 10:56
Added the Radwar Birthday Party to the partyscope. Seems I missed to do that until now ;-)

[26] : 16. Oct 2002 18:23
CreaMD - where`s NP7 raport!?

[27] : 16. Oct 2002 18:48
You mean NP photo report? Hm, it’s waiting to be done by me, but unfortunatelly it has lower priority than my current duties. Sure thing I will do it. No need to hurry people will be interested anyway. Especially I hope I will hear some opinion about the stuff released there ;-)
CreaMD

[28] : 16. Oct 2002 19:00
Come on, CreamD, we want to see the pictures of the winner of the vodka compo!

[29] : 16. Oct 2002 21:08
;-))) As far as I know, there only was beer-fest this year ;-)) Even (always strong) polish scene is turning gay, you know ;-))
CreaMD

[30] : 17. Oct 2002 09:05
Well, every scene has it’s little quirk... =-)

[31] : 17. Oct 2002 11:20

Updated the download-link for Internal #29.
Updated latest downloads.

@ pi: thanks - we’ll have a look at it soon.

[33] : 22. Oct 2002 14:03
CreaMD: Good luck with your current duties and enjoy your current "duties" :) BTW thanks for prolonging the compo deadline. Unfortunately, I still can’t be called back on track, though...
Wotnau

Updated the link for the State of the Art party.

[35] : 25. Oct 2002 20:28
Added Swiss Pirates Reunion 2002 to the partyscope.

[36] : 27. Oct 2002 14:16

[37] : 27. Oct 2002 21:26
It’s nice to be personal. I’m not completely against diversity in news posts, but please place your personal requests to forums like CSDB forums, comp.sys.cbm news or CBM hacking list (If you have any questions about the policy of the list owner, please contact "cbm-hackers-approval@cling.gu.se".)
CreaMD

[38] : 29. Oct 2002 00:54
agree CreaMD. This is a News-Portal, no private message board nor forum nor ebay nor ........ Seems like some people can’t read or can even less think then me (and i ever thought that that is impossible)

[39] : 29. Oct 2002 01:51
To that end, i’ve just removed the post reading "I have an old Commodore 64 Home Computer. It is in working condition and has several games on floppy. How much money are these things worth in the current market?" from the news and emailed the author with an explanation.

[40] : 29. Oct 2002 07:26
TMR, yeah! Thanx a lot dude.
CreaMD

[41] : 29. Oct 2002 09:21
ah.. support the new hardsid, it offers even more functionality than the isa one - and is properly supperted by today’s operating systems.. while still being fully compatible.

[42] : 29. Oct 2002 12:03
new hardsid? no plug’n’pray any longer? /me wants informations 8)
pi

[43] : 29. Oct 2002 15:21
You should have been on the HardSID mailinglist. But you can also find all available version on the title page of http://www.hardsid.com - we don’t know more either. The new version will be PCI, fully XP/2000 compatible and brings advanced and more professional midi support and drivers etc..

[44] : 30. Oct 2002 18:15
Mermaid this was what I wanted to avoid by putting all group jumps to beta-news... such posts turn this site to tabloid, and what is even worse the last post of Mr.Alpha is a public and personal attack. Not very nice if we consider the fact that (if I remember right) all Mr.Alpha posted on this news-site was his scene-leaving and return back.
CreaMD

[45] : 30. Oct 2002 23:47
Ahem... Meanwhile I’ve found out what was problem with HMMmurdock ;-), quite interesting story ;-). HMM, you should reconsider your views on some things concerning todays c64 scene.. many things have hanged since last century. But yeah Internet and powerful computers has changed us all in a little bit negative way...
CreaMD

[46] : 31. Oct 2002 01:24
*sigh*
CreaMD

[47] : 31. Oct 2002 10:07
CreaMD, where can it be read (postings before your reaction on Richard, Mermaid and HMM)?

[48] : 31. Oct 2002 11:14
Reaction to Richard is reactions on his latest game. As far as reaction to Mermaid is concerned it’s about the discussion we had in past about news concerning group movements. News abou HMMurdock is in Betanews at the bottom of the page.
CreaMD

[49] : 31. Oct 2002 15:14
I WANT MY C64 VERSION OF WORLDCHARTS, NOW!!!

...or I’ll force CreamD to make those bloody screenshots again :)
