 31. AUGUST 2001
 Happy birthday Digital Talk 04:32
Jubilee 50th issue of Digital Talk is out. First I didn't plan to add this news as this magazine is in German language, but then I checked what's on the disks and found that it's worth announcing. Get it here: Digital Talk #50. 568kb zipped file contains 4 disk sides packed with interesting bonus files (demos, games, utilities). Especially interesting are the utilities adapted, or proven to fully work with SuperCPU and what made me specially happy was the Speed Packer - my most favourite packer by Matcham which I lost together with my best (and of course, not backed up) utility disk, back in 1996. Now it's back and be sure that I will use it again. No more Blockblaster 3.0 ;-).
Do you remember War Deal Lamers utilities? 03:56
Richard/Civitas released Vidcom Crazy V3.0 - really crazy tool indeed. It fits to the style of War Deal Lamers tools collection. I especially remember 1x1 pixel editor which featured zoom, change color, flip, mirror a othe cute features for 1x1 pixel big picture editing ;)). This tool is much more useful though. It accepts Vidcom pictures and it's main purpose is to create fullscreen color flashing which is fully editable, previewable, and saveable as executable (ble...). If you run the tool you can actually check the default demo picture and flash effect to get the idea what the Vidcom Crazy 3.0 is about. Still quite useful for fullscreen flash editing.

 FyckYa2K1 party releases 01:02
Fyanica - Fuckya and Amiganica were held on 14.-15.july 2001 in Hungary. I thought that that files from this party were lost, but they were released unnoticed by me some 2 and half weeks ago! So, here you are: FuckYa2K1-2.zip. On the disk you can find multipart invitation to Hungarian equivalent of boozembly - Arok Party which already took place. Also on disk there are three greatly drawn pictures by Hungarian never stopping Singular crew graphicians - Poison, Leon and TGM.

 XEO3 - The ultimate Plus/4 shot‘em‘up 04:48
This is little bit offtopic, but IMHO this project really deserves support. Game is being developed by Mike Dailly and Luca Carrafiello (aka Luca/Fire). On the project homepage you can find a comprehensive info, actual screenshots of the game, and also download section containing executables and game music. Non Plus/4 owners can at least listen to the heavily atmospherical in-game tunes made by Luca. I wish I had Plus/4!!!
 Phat1 Party announced 03:40
On August 23rd - homepage of Phat1 was launched. Better late than never, I would say. The second year of the party is held again in Riga/Latvija on 21st of september 2001. Find more info here. Check PHAT0 results, and get few c64 releases from first year here: c64 releases! As far as I know they weren't spread until now. The party is well reachable for Scandinavian sceners, for the rest of us it's quite far and deep in the wild East. Dekadence is planning to visit the party this year too, so if it happens, you can expect a nice party report. Broken link to c64 releases corrected on 29.august 2001. Sorry for probs. (CreaMD)

Odyssey coop - latest NTSC release 03:05
"Odyssey-coop" or "NTSC efnet coop demo" you can download here! Good to see some cool NTSC dudes in action and especially Dokken, one of my favourite NTSC demomakers. And by the way, do you remember Driven magazine? It was an onefile NTSC magazine produced by Elwix/Style and Coolhand. And for sure one of the best magazines ever produced on this machine. It disappeared together with Elwix/Style (Where are you now?) a few years ago. Still you can find magazine archives together with occasionally updated NTSC news here at: http://starbase.globalpc.net/driven/

 Symphony 2001 party - invitation released 00:57
At the end of the HOT summer full of HOT parties, another HOT party is announced. Get the invitation here. This time it is Symphony 2001 party held for the first time on 14.-16. september 2001 in Trzcianka/Poland. According to the well written and definitely not boasting invitation text - this party seems to be well organised . Interesting is the claim that traditionally on Polish parties, foreigners go in for free. One more good reason to check it. Thanx to Fenek/Arise - coder of the invitation, for sending it to us.

 Balloonacy - playable preview 17:47
Yes, ?Balloonacy? is still currently under production, however, a playable preview is now available. You can download it from this page, or hop along to the TND web site. The full version of ?Balloonacy? for the Commodore 64 will hopefully be released WAY before Christmas 2001. It will feature 16 multi-loading levels of madness, a cool presentation and plenty of music. Not worth missing eh? While I?m still at it, i?d also like to mention that TND may surprise you all with something special in December. I wont tell you what it is, but it is something you might love to see :o) Click here to download the full game. Any reactions will be welcome.

The 2nd issue of Attitude magazine released 21:57
Attitude #2 - magazine by Samar was released. Packed with text, well written news and full of opinion and Attitude. Really good reading. We had some problems with loader on the real machine, but in emulator it works ok. (Please, also note that there are some factual mistakes in news about Dmagic - we don't have www.dmagic.sk site, yet.)

Minigame competition - deadline set 06:35
When posting news about this competition on 24th of June, I thought that it would hardly get any response from lazy c64-ers. I'm very happy to announce that I was wrong! 2 c64 games already were submitted to this crossplatform compo and from realiable source I've heard that more are comming! Great news for us all. Just keep in mind that deadline is set on 30. september 2001. Check the the current status of competition here.

 Hey, creative people ! 02:11
CORE, is taking place on next weekend (17.-19. august 2001) in Hungary. Let's rock the party! If you have music, demo, gfx finished - send it in E-mail to Hoild of Enhanced Newcomer Crew. If you have some half-finished art around you finish it! Dmagic is going to release a music and an onefiler there! Let's make SOME competition! Believe me, Hungary is a good place to show your art in. It has one of the best audiences in whole Europe. They probably wouldn't strip on your music, but you can expect a great appreciation and fair voting.

Assembly stuff for impatient ones... 04:33
If you have a fast internet connection and also if you wan't to see every compo entry (not only c64 entries, but also Vic 20 and MSX). The oldskool competitons currently only in a div-x avi video format (of not very good quality IMHO) you can find at ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/parties/2001/assembly01/. Party report comming soon. Stay tuned. (updated 15.8.2001)

 4. AUGUST 2001
Fresh report from this year?s Assembly. 13:23
Thanx to TBB for answering a lot of curious questions. According to him, party is quite a success. As far as oldskool compo is concerned, there was surprisingly enough releases for a good competition. (Extend, Dekadence and some one or two more released the demo there, around 10 musics and 4 graphics were released). Stay tuned!
 "Demus Interruptus" by CREST 01:31
While waiting for almost forgotten long delayed "Meet Crest", another Crest demo production hits our screens - Demus Interruptus, released on 3rd of august 2001. As all Crossbows productions, it has perfectly clean design, cute graphic, and some new world records *yawn* proving Crossbows extraterestrial origin. Don't forget to always press space to proceed to the next part. As far as musics are concerned, they are composed by Mitch&Dane, Drax, Syndrom. Many thanx to Sander/Focus for supplying us with the copy and link to this great demo. Thanx also to WVL/Xenon for emulator fixing so we could include this small screenshot. We didn't want to do this, but... The Demus Interruptus works ok on VICE emulator so you can do this to enable it's functionality in emulator. POKE 53038,152 - POKE 53039,234 - RUN. Thanx to WVL for being the first and to Nemezis for releasing the fix note. Have fun.

 Assembly 2001 starts tomorrow! 01:59
02.-05. August 2001 (THU-SUN) at the Hartwall-Areena, Helsinki - Finland. Oldskool compo is scheduled on Friday evening. Yeah they call it oldskool compo and we all know that means chance for good old c64 to strike back again.
