Version 1.1.1 of the cross platform C64 cruncher Exomizer has been released. As usual the release includes linux and win32 executables, decruncher assembler source code and full source code for the Exomizer itself. Highlights of the changes since v1.1 are: bugfix to the decruncher source, $ as hex prefix and simple relocation of in-files. For a complete list of changes see the included changelog.txt file. It is available for download over at the excellent Covert Bitops site in the tools section and from the great C16/Plus4 site Plus/4 World.

Abrakadabra Preview II released today |
14:40 |
Commodore Scene #38 is out |
14:32 |
I have created the premier issue of Commodore Currents, of what I hope will be a semi-regular Commodore oriented publication. For the present, it is published as a PDF and as a PostScript II file, posted to my Geocities website. The first issue contains reprints of my SuperCPU full-screen FLI articles, along with some usual eye candy. Future issues will largely contain reprints of various articles I?ve written over the years for other Commodore oriented publications. Without further ado, visit: www.geocities.com/eyethian2000/ccurrents.htm and enjoy! Please keep in mind that this is a ?free? website, meaning I have limited bandwidth resources. So, if you encountered a blank page or unable to reach it, please try again a day or two later and grab your copy. Enjoy.

Steppe & Yodelking?s Rip Compo |
23:04 |
You think you?re a good coder / ripper? Here?s your chance to prove your skills against other coders / rippers! We have a list of c-64 products with tunes that are currently missing in the HVSC. The list is compiled from stuff that fans have requested, and so far NOONE has managed to rip these requests. We have links for most of the requests, but some of the stuff is really hard to find, so please submit to us. Some of the tunes are in HVSC already, but they don?t work with Sidplay2, real C64 or there a subtunes missing. You will be helping HVSC to preserve the C-64 music for the future, and at the same time make the requesters happy. We will announce the winners on disk-magazines, and C-64 news boards. The best three rippers of course get some yummy prizes in the form of various original games, books, and Instant Remedy?s C-64 Remix CD. The Compo starts: Now and ends on the 31st of May 2003. To compete go to: www.demodungeon.com/ripcompo.

Goattracker -> Ninjatracker converter |
19:00 |
This crossplatform utility converts songs from Goattracker to Ninjatracker (V1.02 or V1.03) format, with obvious limitations, as the programs have completely different features. So don?t expect 100% conversion, especially pattern frequency effects (vibrato, portamento etc.) aren?t converted at all!

First reminderThe next issue of the German-language magazine Lotek64 is going to be released in early March. If you would like to publish contributions or announcements, you should remember to send the material to Lord Lotek soon. More about the content will be revealed in February :) Opinion PollThere came a suggestion to establish a readers forum (mostly C64) in the magazine. Basically theres nothing against it, but a forum only makes sense if there are people who are ready to answer questions (and to ask them ofcourse). Please give feedback if such a thing would be interesting - in addition to various forums on the net. What else?Lord Lotek wishes to thank for the donations, texts and other interesting things he received!

3 games releases by TRIAD |
11:16 |
In the last hours of 2002, TRIAD put out some smaller titles. Now they made it to The Digital Dungeon. FROGGER /TRIADA previously unreleased Frogger clone. This green frog never seems to give in. The programmer should learn how to use timerinterrupts, though... Still, Frogger is always Frogger and they?re happy to announce that the rumour about his death seems to be exaggerated. ;) Fixed to work with enabled cart and shorted by Quorthon. DownloadCHOPPER 1 /TRIADAlso an older but previously unreleased small game. Taper bought a box with C64 stuff from a local lamer cleaning his attic, including a lot of originals. This game was part of a collection with smaller games, most pure crap. This one caught our attention, though. Mostly since it resembles to one of those old games we used to play in the arcades as kids. The author of this game might have published it on a coverdisk from Compute?s Gazette aswell, so it?s unclear who owns the rights. Not that they care... DownloadTRON /TRIADA new game featuring the classic lightcycles from the famous movie. Programmed by an American in both ML and Basic, but enough ML to put out as a firstrelease. This game is rather neat, especially with a lot of opponent cycles enabled. If you enjoy lightcycles, this is the game for you! DownloadThat?s all in our clean-out for this time. TRIAD wish you a Happy New Year. Links updated by MacGyver on 7th January 2007, 14:27 CET

The Commodore 64 and its SID Music |
15:24 |
I recorded an Austrian radio show called "Matrix" which was broadcastet nationwide the last days at channel "Oe1" (the classical music and art channel of "ORF"). This issue was a special one, including 20 minutes about the Commodore 64 and its SID Music. Chris Abott was interviewed a lot. I recorded it on tape on a small mono-radio so the quality isn`t that good and also most of the spoken language is in German language, but I think THIS issue of "Matrix" will be interresting for the rest of the C64 freaks, too.
Thank to "mrsid" it was possible to clean up the stream a lot and host it for downloading. Get the mp3 (64kbit, mono) here: samhain.c64.org/~sid/matrix.mp3.
