HyperLink 2.5e released |
16:17 |
HyperLink 2.5e, the most current version of the HyperLink web browser and document viewer for the Commodore 64 and 128, has now been officially released. This new version has several important enhancements: * Integrated 128 fastbooter -- fastboot HL2.5e in as little as 1 / 3rd the time as the 64 version using a 1571, 1581 or other burst-capable drive. * Configure can now run from 128 mode. * New DOS wedge (press @), same commands as DOS 5.1 (including directory with $). * Significantly optimized and revamped decode and display logic, meaning both web pages and on-disk documents display much quicker, screen refreshes are faster, and wait time for redraw before you can follow a link is much reduced. * On-disk inline images can be toggled off "permanently" (CTRL-I) or on the fly (hold down the Commodore key). * Multiple bug fixes, including improved SuperCPU compatibility. The official HyperLink page is www.armory.com/%7Espectre/cwi/hl. Cameron Kaiser * ckaiser@floodgap.com * posting with a Commodore 128 Source: comp.sys.cbm, alt.c64

New design/content for ONSLAUGHT website! |
15:05 |
After two years, a new layout for Forbidden Depths has been released. Two months of work with new layout and design by DJB and expanded and new content by Jazzcat. The site now hosts much more and is far quicker that the previous versions. Trivia is that Jazzcat visited DJB for the first time in 13+ years, also TBH and Patto. So we decided what a more better time to finish and launch the site! Enjoy and reactions please!

James Fly "100%" version released |
14:31 |
In late October, emu64.pl was one of the first to present the full version of the Polish game James Fly. It was written by Jakub (Prezes, ex. Butt-Man) Wozniakowski and released under the Samar label. It?s a nice platform game, really worth playing. Unfortunatly, nobody of the Polish guys who saw the news at emu64.pl seemed to care spreading the word themselves. I (MacGyver) was busy elsewise, so this news is coming here a bit late. Download. However, it?s more complicated: even though the news item from emu64.pl, according to Ramos / Samar, states it?s the full version, Prezes - the main coder of the game - claims that the game was never finished and the full version doesn?t exist. It appears that it?s just an updated version since it has a few more features in comparison to the version released by Hitmen in 1997, like: a bigger game-area, tunnels, possibility to finish the game by collecting some amount of points or reaching some point on the map, limited lives, 2 cracker-protections included and maybe some more improvements... Quite some time ago, Wow+Role released a version of James Fly which seems to be (almost) identical to the "100%" version... In fact, neither of us have contact with the creators whatsoever. Almost all what is written above is based on the comments posted at emu64.pl and this is basically everything we know. Statements from Prezes, Ramos and any other involved person are warmly welcome.

CSDb problems the last week |
16:01 |
I keep getting questions about what is happening to CSDb so now I?ll write down the whole story. CSDb has for the last 2 year been hosted for free by my former emplyee on a comercial server with 24 / 7 surveilance. Last wednesday some jerk decided that he wanted a copy of ALL pages in CSDb and started leeching. This caused a major load on the server and all the mobile phones at the people who are monitoring the server started beeping. Because of this it was decided that CSDb should be moved to a non comercial server. This was done very fast and without any check from their side (which I can?t blame them for since I don?t pay them anything. :) ) so a lot of things were not working correctly. As I found the bugs I mailed them to the admin of the new server and hoped they would fix it. After a day or so they tried to fix one problem but didn?t really bother to check if CSDb really worked (again no blame). So it was up to me again to check that, and when I found out that it still didn?t work sent another mail. But NOW everything should be fixed - I hope. If anyone experience some weird errors on CSDb which are continuesly (happens again and again) please pass it on (mail it or post here), and I?ll fix it / send another mail. Perff / NoName, CSDb Admin PS. CSDb is hosted by: http://pil.dkSource: CSDb Forums
