New release: DemoAmp, the demo player for VICE |
23:26 |
DemoAmp is like the well known WinAmp - but it does not play music. Instead, DemoAmp plays, well, Demos. You can comfortably define which demos you want DemoAmp to play, and the program calls one demo after the other. Of course, DemoAmp is not a Commodore 64 emulator. It uses VICE to show the demos. It is kind of a remote control for VICE. It is not restricted on demos only - you can make it play every kind of software that you got in a D64 file and that does need only basic interaction. "Basic" means you can send keystrokes (you often need to press the joystick button or SPACE to get to another part of a demo) but you cannot emulate cursor control via joystick, for example. See www.editorix.org/congo/ for more info, download the ZIP at www.editorix.org/congo/demoamp.zip or see how DemoAmp looks at www.editorix.org/congo/demoamp.jpg

New CD - Martin Galway: "Project Galway" |
11:36 |
This is a double audio CD picture disc with a 12-page colour booklet. The two CDs feature a total of 34 C64-tunes by Martin Galway, all recorded from Martin's own original Commodore-64 machine. Quite a novel idea. Why? Well, there's a lot more information about it on this page: www.lynnemusic.com/project-galway.html, so if this tickles your interest, then head on over there and read the track listing, the background information, etc.

Numen by Taquart - source code released |
11:32 |
The source of probably the best demo ever created for an 8-bit Atari NUMEN has been released lately. As far as I know, the Atari has the same processor instructions as the C64 and that makes this source quite interesting for the C64 coders too. Maybe someone of the C64 coders finds the pack stuffed with sources interesting as a reference. I find important to mention that this outstanding demo needs a stock Atari XL/XE machine + at least 320 KB RAM to run. That almost asks for answer from math coders using C64 ram-expansion units. ;-) (Don?t take my last note too seriously, though). News found at: www.atari.sk

?Demo Collector Crew? |
20:09 |
Anyone interested in starting ?a Crew? that collects demos ?
I know some individuals with a good demo collection (Zyron, Jack Alien, Acidchild, Graham, Iopop, me, ...)
It?s impossible for me (and for all other demo-collecting-individuals) to do it all by ourselfs.
I suggest that we use CSDB to centralise all info (releases, dates, additional info,...) and upload the stuff so that everyone can take benefit from it.
We can make a mailinglist to discuss the releases and the info we found before it is uploaded to CSDB.
If you are (seriously!) interested and / or have suggestions then mail me. If there?s not enough interest I will ofcourse go on by myself for myself :/

C64 game solutions as a video file |
18:06 |
Under www.c64-longplays.de.vu there is a new site where you can download solutions for old C64 games as a complete video file. Be patient while you download the files, they are on a private server hosted by myself and the download rate can fluctuate between 1 to 30 kb/s.
Also just four people can download the files at the same time because I want to keep the download times endurable. You can find a tutorial for making your own game videos in our forum. We would be happy if anyone helps us with new video longplays.

Goattracker (both mono and stereo versions) was updated for better hardrestart handling (wavetable also executed on hardrestart frame) and possibility for manual fadein/out of music. Of course, these features pay the price in increased rastertime but if you want it really low, you?re using some other programs anyway :)

Lotek64 #07 (September 2003) is finished at last! ContentsInterview with Hades6510 about the Turkish C64 scene / Competition Pro repair tips / C64 cruncher test 2003 / Digital Talk - interview with Champ / Atari Jaguar CD / Dogma 2001: new rules for computer games? / Large overview: game makers & construction kits / Game Over for WDR computer club / RePlay: Tau Ceti / 23 (DVD). ReleaseA part of the run already has been printed. Lord Lotek is confident that he can send out all copies later this week. Because of the new rates of the Austrian post, this has to happen all at once, since it will be charged by weight and single sendings are way too expensive. As it took a bit longer this time, the PDF version is available before the printed version as an exception. Download it from c64-mags.de. Lotek64 on Austrian radioOn 1st August the Austrian radio station FM4 broadcasted a short report about the retro computing scene, based on Lotek64. The responsible editor, Robert Glash?ttner, released a detailed report on the FM4 site aswell. Check it out here . Request for helpWanted are dealers, websites etc., where cheap cables / spare parts / accessories for the C64 and other old computers can be obtained. If enough hints arrive, Lotek64 could release a list (on a regular base). Small previewIn fact its too early to talk about issue 8. What can be revealed: A focus on music is beeing planned, the themes Gameboy and SID are already covered. If you have any more ideas, dont hesitate to tell them! For more information about Lotek64 contact Lord Lotek or visit the relaunched Lotek64 Homepage.

Retro Replay and RR-Net available |
22:02 |
In time with the announced date, the new production run of the Retro Replay is finished. Compared to the old cartridges, only cosmetic changes have been made:
The most significant change is the colour: Blue instead of black. After many requests by users, the jumpers are now mounted straight, not to the side. To ensure proper mounting in our new cases, the mounting hole has been moved and changed in diameter to perfectly fit the transparent cases.
|
|
At the same time, the networking card RR-Net is going on sale. The card is plugged to the expansion port of the Retro Replay, and allows connecting the C64 to an intranet.
Although the operating system Contiki is freeware, we have an agreement with the author Adam Dunkels: He gets paid for every RR-Net unit that?s sold. Contiki is an operating system that offers many features in very small space: A TCP/IP stack, a web browser, a webserver, a VNC-client and of course a graphical user interface. It is included on a 5,25 inch disk for the C64. To make use of all features of Contiki, an intranet with router should be available.
As an introductory offer, there?s a network-bundle. It contains:
Retro Replay
RR-Net with Contiki
transparent case
worldwide shipment
together for only 100,- EUR!
|
|
Please use the contact form at our website for your order. Unfortunately, our domain ami.ga does not work at the moment, because the republic of Gabon is currently migrating their internet connection from satellite to undersea cable. Even with our server in Germany, both the website and email addresses are affected, but the contact form works reliably!

Update on 10th September: new individual file versions available for easier hard disk installing etc. The onefiled data should be faster to buffer on CMD hardware. Also, SuperRAM buffering and other very minor fixes were done. I'd recommend everyone to download the updated version(s), whether D64 or D81, just backup your savegames (files 70,71,72 etc.) first.
