Something BIG for the UK scene - (??) 21:10
There has recently been another encouraging development for the UK scene - everything will have to be planned out for maximum impact, but hopefully it should help drag the UK C64 scene out of the dinosaur age and into the SCPU age! There is a possibility that I can build a small team of enthusiasts to attend an upcoming show. That’s all I can say for now. More details will be posted here.
 Commodore 64 radio commercials 17:44
The Commodore Billboard has been updated. This time with 4 English and 4 French radio commercials. All in high quality 192 Kbps mp3. These are all "donut" versions meaning that the radio station would get a soundtrack and then add speak themselves. Found on a tape at a Canadian radio station in Vancouver. The update also includes several C64, Vic20, PET, Amiga etc. adverts and brochures. Also tons of stuff in the miscellaneous section... pins, posters, mousepads, telephones and much more.

 Splish Splash Karoke @ MS98 21:55
You liked our demo Splish Splash, but you actually weren?t there when it was first shown at Mekka & Symposium in 1998?

You can download a capture (from a bad quality source) of the singing at MS98 at: ftp://ftp.padua.org/pub/c64/Videos/padua-splish_splash_ms98-352x288_divx4-badsource.zip (beware - it?s 25MB big).

Thanks must go to Chaotic for the encoding and Sultan/Teklords for the video tape.

 It?s time for the 2002 1K game compo 19:00
The 2002 MiniGame 8-bit coding competition is now officially open, and ready for your entries. For those of you who didn?t participate last year, the aim is to write a game in 1024 bytes of code, for one of the classic 8-bit home computers. The deadline this year is 16th of September, 12.00 GMT.

You?ll find the rules for submission at http://www.ffd2.com/minigame.
Questions and submissions can be sent to minigame@cling.gu.se.

 ONSLAUGHT news 16:51
Jailbird left his groups Onslaught, Padua and Tempest when he moved to Hungary from Yugoslavia. He then joined the Hungarian group Breeze. His efforts for Onslaught and his friendship with the group will not change, he just wanted to be around some local members, which is appreciated. Shapie/Onslaught will soon release his music collection called BACK ON TRACK, after this he plans a small one file logo collection called BY THE WAY. Onslaught is working on VANDALISM NEWS #39 at the moment and hope to surprise the scene with it soon. They are getting very close to completing the music collection SPEED soon. This contains multispeed exclusive musics and digis. It is a cooperation project between Onslaught, Shape and Creators.

 SYMPHONY 2002 News 11:49
The date has moved to 3.-7. July! A NEW site is up: Check symphony.scene.pl (Polish only, English and German translations in the making).
 Bad?n?good News ?bout ftp.c64.rulez.org 10:30
BAD NEWS: Some time ago ftp.elysium.pl crashed, and maybe you?ve noticed that ftp.c64.rulez.org suddenly moved 2 back years in time. Yes, it?s sad but true. The site lost 2 years worth data. According to Lion/Chromance, they also lost the complete Chromance website without backup, memberlist of three emailing lists: plus4 (international) c64scene and c64users (both hungarian). They were able to set up just old lists. Currently, the archive was restored from old backup dated 2000.

GOOD NEWS: There is a CD backup of ftp.c64.rulez.org (or hopefuly at least c64 part) dated March/2002 made by a polish dude whose name I won't reveal (as I don't know it ;-) ), and there are at least two copies of that CD! Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
 Jammer?s fat SID-stuff! 10:17
A new Polish musician, Kamil ?Jammer? Wolnikowsky who (if I remember right) first publicly appeared in this year?s Forever III party - music compo, has released a collection of 10 decent tunes in .SID format. While I?m writing this message I?m digesting the first tunes and yeah they are fat?n?yummy! I?m sure you will like them ;-). Grab the collie here. Source: www.c64.pl.

Great C= meeting Holland saturday 15 june 11:18
To all great Commodore lovers: There?s a meeting in Holland on SATURDAY 15 JUNE 2002 from 10:00 till 16:00. The place is Trefpunt, Kerkweg 21, Maarssen, Holland. Look for map at: commodore-gg.hobby.nl/route.htm. It?s the greatest event you will find in the Netherlands around the nostalgic C64 and C128 computers. Also there will be a lot of Amiga fans from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands (we have a demonstration of an Amiga 1200 on the internet). Special guest on the meeting will be Robert Bernardo from the Fresno Commodore user group, California, USA. Everything you want to know or ask about the C= computers you can do on this event. Also we help you with repairs, "new" things, simulators and lots more. There will people from the "scene", programmers, collectors etc. Everyone who wants to join us on this C= happening is welcome! It will be a lot of fun!

Metal Warrior IV - project status 15:33
Browse in to Covert BitOps Site (click on Work in Progress in games section) to learn more about current status of MW4 developments. Your will learn few very interesting facts like the one about game script which has 5500 lines of dialogues and story branching notes.
Two cute oldies and one SEUCK 15:25
Heli-Jump (1986) & Devil's Gallery (1985), games created by Yvon Halbwachs were only released in France and now after all those years, Triad brings you the translated versions together with couple of decent trainers and graphic improvements. Get the games from here. Join Triad's spreadlist, if you didn't, yet.

Zynax III (1996,2002). At Protovision's Board I've spotted the release of the last part of the Zynax Trilogy - Zynax III by Stefan Gutsch. It was produced in 1996 but wasn't released before. The game is made in Sensisoft's Shoot 'em up Construction Kit (SEUCK), so expect dumb monsters and 3 color charset backgrounds. What gives the game special value is a great music soundtrack by Richard Bayliss. It's a must for everyone who likes his intensive british C64 music style. If you now start to think, "what the hell I mean by that", here is the rough idea: carelessly long introductions, intensive heroic music motives & melodies which will get under your skin ;-).

 Singles Collection - co-op demo project 12:49
Most people seem to know about it already, but I might as well make it official - the Singles Collection has been planned as an ongoing project to produce co-op demos similar to the T.R.C. Co-Op that was released in 1989. For more information, the guidelines for submissions and a very vague attempt at looking like a "not available in shops!" TV commercial site, aim a passing browser at www.redesign.sk/singles and cross your fingers!

Please note that the deadline for submissions for volume 1 of Singles Collection is 16th June and that any material that may be left over after the first disk side will be added to volume 2!
