 Vandalism News #38 - Opinion Poll 13:24
Here is a new series of questions for our OPINIONATED segment in Vandalism News. Each issue we have made this chapter a success, but only with your continued support. Please answer the questions as best you can and feel free to type as much as you want in your answers.

1.) What is your opinion on things like the SUPER CPU and RETRO REPLAY hardware? Do you think it is the future of the C64 and that it will prolong the C64?s life-span?
2.) Do you think IRC makes people less active as far as turning their C64s on and doing stuff on C64? or even in general, does the PC make C64 users less productive and for what reasons do you think?
3.) What do you want to see on the internet for the C64 scene that is either not there at the moment or is extremely lacking?
4.) If an extensive, well-documented article on anything that is C64 related could be published in Vandalism News, what subject would you like it to be on?

Send the answers to: jazzcat@c64.org. Copy the questions to your favourite E-mail client, or just click on the link and fill in the answers in the mail. Thanks.

A Legend Returns (Sort Of!) 15:34
Back in the "olde days" of the C64, the name Zzap! 64 was close to a legend - a review magazine like no other featuring (amongst other things) a unique system involving multiple reviewers on one game and a slightly twisted sense of humour that was unusual in a commercial publication and just as cool as some of the classic games they reviewed.

But, like all things, Zzap! 64 came to an end after 106 issues and a name change to Commodore Force, the final plug being pulled for financial reasons. And so a legend died...

But it’s cadaver lives on because now, for one issue only the legend that is Zzap! 64 is resurrected! And along with the regular fictional characters like Ken D. Fish, Lloyd Mangram and Gordon Houghton (or was he real...? =-) a collection of sundry other names from the past return, accompanied by a host of new people, to bring reviews and news of the C64, just like the old days!

And how much are they charging for this combination of reviews mag and trip down memory lane? Do i want a pony? A score? No, just a download to you guv, one PDF available now from www.zzap64.co.uk in two easy to apply sizes. So what are you waiting for? And, for once, send an email when you’re done reading - if they get enough interest there may be an issue 108!

 21. FEBRUARY 2002
 Richard sends his apologies 19:53
In the past few days, there have been many accusations and attacks on other people in the C64 scene. This was due to the fact that I did not have the right sort of sense of humour. I would therefore would like to apologise to the whole C64 scene for what I have done.

I will be concentrating putting my wrongs to right, and continue with my C64 game projects, music and additional support for the Commodore 64 and the scene itself.

I would also like to thank many of the beta-testers who gave me many ideas to -improve- the game ’Heavy Metal Deluxe’. I will put -all- these ideas into my game.

Finally, a big apology goes out to the whole scene, who had to suffer my stupidity in forming ’Da Laxatives’, although I found it a laugh - it is now in the past. The Da Laxatives web site will be shut down TODAY. However, when I release my C64 games releases. I will continue to add the infamous ’TND’ intro screen and probably work on some C64 services as well (Music, SEUCK enhancements, etc. My web site will only relate to my game projects. And the other features can be put into my other C64 web site called - Richard’s C64 Greats (this will be placed into the Da Laxatives account, but a new url redirect will be made).

Let’s hope the scene starts to get better and lets make friends of the scene. ;o)

Finally -ENHIRIDION#4 by SaMaR was released. According to news at www.c64.nostalgia.pl , the magazine was protected against emulation but now fixed to work on emus by Pajda/Faith. Download. The whole pack takes 4 disk sides. 2 sides contain the magazin files itself (in Polish language) and 2 are stuffed with music, graphic, packing and disk utilities (worth checking!). (CreaMD).
